Chopta at 2709 MTRS ASL is known as “Mini Switzerland” it is a small region part of Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary. It is one of the birding hotspots comprising evergreen meadows and dense forest canopy in Uttarakhand State of India. The destination is popular for rare bird sightings amidst Rhododendron bushes in Pine, Deodar, and Cider forests complemented by warm friendly weather. It is a habitat in the lower Himalayas for 250-plus species of birds.
Chopta offers dream sightings of birds amidst picturesque settings within sight of the lofty Himalayan Ranges. Standard Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive at Haridwar – Transfer to Chopta – Check in to Hotel – First Birding Session
We begin our trip by arriving at Haridwar and then driving to Chopta. We will make a quick stop for breakfast along the way. Once we arrive at the hotel by late afternoon, we will check in and enjoy some time to relax and freshen up. In the evening, we will embark on our first birding session. We will return to the hotel for dinner and a restful sleep. Meals for the day include breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Day 2: Whole Day Birding Sessions
Today is all about birding! We have planned whole day birding sessions to spot rare and new avian species. After lunch, the session continues at Mukku Village. Overnight stay at the hotel. Meals for the day include breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Day 3: Whole Day Birding Continues – Drive to Mandal
We continue our bird watching in the Himalayan belt amidst picturesque mountain settings. After lunch, we drive to Mandal to continue our adventure. Overnight stay at the hotel. Meals for the day include breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Day 4: Trek to Tungnath Temple
After a delicious breakfast, we set off for a trek to Tunganath Temple. This trek provides an opportunity to spot high-altitude species of avian life like rose finches, eagles, thrushes, sunbirds, and wintering warblers. Overnight stay at the hotel. Meals for the day include breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Day 5 : Morning Birding Session – Check out – Return Journey
On the final day, we begin with another short birding session in the morning. After returning to the hotel for breakfast, we check out and transport all guests to Haridwar to board the Nanda Devi Express for the return journey.
